    TT #14

Okay, so this is yet another totally self indulgent TT, but here are 13 reasons why you should buy, read and love
Tower of Secrets! Available Now. :)

    1. Sebastian Montclaire is used to getting what he wants, from women to business. What he wants now is the patent on a revolutionary computer code. An accidental meeting with the inventor's daughter has him questioning which he wants more.

He has no idea Marina Bennett is a proverbial princess in a tower and only true love can ever free her.

    2. Sebastian Montclaire is hot, sexy, and a man worth loving. Even if he doesn't think so.

    3. Marina Bennett is sweet, innocent and stronger then she realizes. And it's finally time for something good to happen to her!

    4. If you don't read it, you won't know what the secrets are!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

    5. This is an adult fairly tale based on Rapunzel. Haven't you always loved Rapunzel?
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

    6. Lots of sparks, really hot sex, and undying, overwhelming passion!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

    7. It's a love story.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

    8. It's a quick fun read that will leave you happy at the end. :)

    9. It'll settle your curiosity, about the secrets, about my writing, about erotic romances, about life in general...ok so maybe not but the rest are true.

    10. Because lots of people are saying nice things about my writing...

Ms. Lucas writes with realism and heart and displays this in her characters. If you are hungering for an exceptional contemporary erotic romance that will stay with you long after the book is closed, then stop by Siren publishing to picked up your copy today. (love romances and more about Body, Heart and Soul)

This is a story of pain, loss, and passion, but, most of all, it is a story of strength and courage. (fallen angel reviews about A Garden in the Moonlight)

As we have become accustomed to expect, this book delivers the magic and thrills of true, soul-felt love with a twist. I, again, recommend her work highly; it is a guaranteed success! (the romance studio about Anything After Sunday?)

In the Still of the Night was absolutely breathtaking. Erotic sex, handsome rescuer, frightened heroine; this book had it all. It also had an extremely intriguing plot combined with well-written words. I couldn’t put it down. I am placing this baby under “I” for intense on my keeper shelf! (joyfully reviwed)

    11. Cause I'm asking nicely? :)

    12. Here's an exclusive PG rated excerpt:

Sebastian Montclair never played games—unless he knew he would win. This one was already over even if that fool Claude Bennett didn’t realize it. He agitatedly checked his watch again. Men—and women—in many circles respected and feared him for his numerous achievements and attributes, but patience was not among them. Sebastian fumed. This trip might just push him beyond his limits. It was taking so long to reach Bennett’s refuge.

Nothing since he’d arrived at the airport had gone his way. Now, even the damned weather schemed against him. Hugging the mountainside, the storm-borne darkness forced his driver to go slow around the curves, adding to his edginess. Vivid, explicit images of Marina assaulting him at inopportune moments failed to improve his mood.

The air around him tasted stale. He tugged on his tie, shifting in the plush leather interior, grateful for the shelter. Nevertheless, part of him wanted to be out in the storm, feeling the rain prick his skin as it fell upon him in sharp beads. He wanted to inhale deeply of wet earth and pine, but it was an impulse he contained—as always.

Images of himself in his study every night for the past three months—desperately waiting for Marina to appear—prompted bitter laughter.

“Way to keep your feelings on lockdown.”

This woman’s pull spelled danger, in more ways than one. Yet, just like a siren’s song, he followed it, despite his gut intuition that it could mean the end of him.

Wind tossed sheets of rain against the darkened windows, occasionally giving his driver the need to correct the vehicle’s position on the narrow road. The uncomfortable expedition, the storm, the narrow road littered with sharp turns, all disrupted his concentration, making work a waste of time. Finally, shoving the report into his attaché, he poured himself a straight shot of vodka. Even without those petty distractions, not the least of which had hair like a fairly-tale princess, his mind was ultimately on Bennett himself. The man would not expect him, giving Sebastian a perverse sense of bliss. He often relied upon advantages gained from acting outside the others’ expectations.

This would be no different. He needed that patent and he’d damn well get it, Marina was a side benefit he hadn’t planned on. He knew her well enough now to know she’d resist him, but there wasn’t anything he could not, or did not, get, that he wanted badly enough.

Moonlight broke through the trees as the car finally crested the cliff. Sebastian swirled the contents of his glass. Watching the moonlight sparkle off the clear liquid, he felt a deep sense of satisfaction at that moment in being Sebastian Montclair.

The Bennetts don’t stand a chance.

    Having some fun. :)

    Warning to all Men!

Be on the lookout! Police warn all male clubbers, party-goers, and unsuspecting pub regulars to be alert and stay cautious when offered a drink from any woman. A date rape drug on the market, called "beer", is used by females to target unsuspecting men. The drug is found in liquid form, and is now available almost anywhere. "Beer" is used by female sexual predators at parties and bars to persuade their male victims to go home and have sex with them. Typically, a woman needs only to persuade a guy to consume a few units of "beer" and then simply ask him home for no-strings-attached sex. Men are rendered helpless against this approach.

After several "beers" men will often succumb to desires to perform sexual acts on women to whom they would never normally be attracted. After drinking "beer", men often awaken with only hazy memories of exactly what happened the night before...usually with a vague feeling that something bad occurred.

At other times these unfortunate men are swindled out of their life savings in a familiar scam known as "a relationship". Apparently men are much more susceptible to this scam after "beer" is administered and sex is offered by the predatory female. Please! Forward this warning to every male you know. However, if you fall victim to this insidious "beer" and the predatory women administering it, there are male support groups with venues in every town where you can discuss the details of your shocking encounter in an open and frank manner with similarly affected, like-minded guys. For the support group nearest you, just look up "golf courses" in the yellow pages.

    Sundays with Samantha Volume 6

Okay before I get personal, let me run a couple of business things past you first. :)

Come by Dark Ice Goddess' Musings and check out some fabulous excerpts from myself and other Cobblestone authors in celebration of Cobblestone Press' first birthday!

Also when you're done reading this post, look at the next post and see the result of all my hard work! I made my own book trailer this time and I think it turned out pretty good. :)

Ok that's it for that. :)
    Now life.

Better this week then last, that's for sure, but going over my 18th wedding anniversary knowing my marriage is not only over, but wasn't ever legal to begin with whomped me. :(

Some days it just seems like the smarter move is to stay down rather then get back up just to get knocked over again. You know? But I'm trying. Trying to stay up, trying to be strong, trying to be a good mom, trying to figure out what the next step I should take is, trying to keep writing. It's hard! But I suppose that's a whine and I'm really trying not to do that so much.

Being alone is a scary thing after all these years. In a way this will be the first time I've ever been on my own. When I moved out at 18, my 14 year old sister essentially came with me and I ended up raising her. Then I married Dave at 22, had my boys, and though they'll still be with me for a while longer, the path I'm on ends at alone and that scares me. Parts of it are nice, but I'd much rather share my life with someone.

    Is that whining again? lol

Okay, it's been a while since I gave you a garden update, so here goes. It's been rough. I swear it's like the forces are conspiring against me. Three weeks ago when they did the final hook up to the new sewer lines that caused all of this, they somehow managed to disconnect my water spigot in the back.

Now, normally this wouldn't be that big a deal. My plants had been well established and could have survived just on what rain we got. Being new transplants however they need the water and we're getting less than our normal in rainfall - of course- and everyday that I talk to management here they say "Oh we're sending someone right out." FOR THREE FREAKING WEEKS NOW! Did they get lost on their way here, cause maybe we should send out a search party or something. Can you say...I'm moving first chance I get!

Now see that being said, that's my other problem with the garden. I really am trying to move, so my heart's not really in the garden. I just wish I had a confirmed move in date somewhere, then I could start the dreaming process, cause I swear this is the last time I move! I'm tired of packing up my life and moving. I'm totally serious, this is it! No more for me. I want to find a place I can spend the rest of my life in and just live.

And I want it tomorrow!!! :)

Speaking of gardens, I got an Alabama visitors guide in the mail the other day with a calender of events for the year, OMG who knew Alabama was so much fun!?

They have outdoor concert picnics, concert under the stars, folk life festival, a dance theater, Saturday walking tours, a symphony! and an arboretum that claims the largest seasonal butterfly house in the nation! That I have absolutely got to see!!! (We had a great arboretum in Fullerton. The one here on the VT campus is nice, but small.) Anyway, all this was just in one tippy corner of the state too!

Sigh, I so want to visit Alabama now I can't even tell you and until very recently, I couldn't have even told you where it sat on the map! (which is actually a really bad thing to confess as a home schooling mother lol)

For those of you following, my cat came back. Sort of. She's living in the woods behind my house and comes in a couple times a day for food and if I'm lucky she snuggles with me. Maybe it's just the nice weather or maybe she's mad at me cause I let a dog move into our room, but that was a while ago. I don't know, but anyway she's safe and not hurt, just moody apparently.

So last question, music on the blog, love it, hate it, don't care? I like it. I found a place with tons of music videos and I want to put up a new one every week. The only time it'd interfere is if you want to watch the book trailer, which is kinda a big deal, but the trailers only have background music, no dialog. So anyway, tell me what you think.

Side note: Yes Tom, the turtle picture was solely for your benefit. :P However, I think it's cute.

Lastly, okay so this is business again, but I'm excited about it!

I'm getting a new website!!! Woohoo FINALLY! I'll give you more info on Wednesday and as the reveal gets closer, but in the meantime enjoy the holiday weekend, be safe and hug your kids! Lots of love ~ Samantha

    TT#12
In honor of the premier of the third installment of Pirates of the Caribbean tonight at 8pm, I present 13 things I love about Pirates of the Caribbean. :)

    1. Our first glimpse of Captain Jack Sparrow. He is calmly sailing his ship...as it's sinking. As a writer I get the importance of grabbing you reader with that first sentence. This is the equivalent in motion picture excellence.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

    2. The moment Will and Jack first meet. Besides the great sword fighting scene and the glimpse into who these men are, I love it when Will accuses Jack of cheating and Jack just says "Pirate." As if that explained everything, which, I guess it did.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

    3. I loved every reference and homage to the ride. I think this was the thing that thrilled and surprised me the most after watching the first one. They really made a fantastic movie that felt like that ride and believe me I know that ride.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

    4. 2 words...Sword Fights! Talk about choreography, those scenes are a dance comparable to anything you'd see in a top ballet production or a Broadway musical. I think my favorite one is in Part 2 when they are all fighting on the water wheel as it rolls through the jungle. Exquisite!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

    5. The monkey. Can't help it, I'm a sucker for animals and besides, he's cute. :)
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

    6. Elizabeth tells Jack there will come a moment where he will have the chance to do the right thing. Jack's response. "I love moments like that. I like to wave at them as they pass by."
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

    7. Will and the pirates swinging the round cages and then climbing the side of the mountain in them. When the cannibals pass over head on the bridge and they just stop, clinging to the side of that mountain trying to look natural. The they run through the forest still inside this ball cage made of bones. Too funny. (I'm so bummed I could not find a picture of this scene, but here's a hunky shot of Will just the same.)
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

    8. "Where's that dog with the keys?"
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

    9. Elizabeth. I am above all else, a character writer. I love characters. I love to create, torture, redeem and grow characters. Probably why I love this series of movies so much to begin with. It's very much a character showcase. Elizabeth is really the character with the greatest growth between parts 1 and 2. She's been growing from a young girl with dreams of adventure, to a woman who more then handles her own with these pirates in a man's world. I can't wait to see how her character continues to evolve in part three.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

    10. The scene in my TT logo this week. ;)Will on the beach arguing how he can not leave Jack behind. Jack of course then appears with hundreds of cannibals chasing him. Will takes in this scene for a second then utters..."Time to go."
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

    11. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

    12. The soundtrack. I LOVE the music from these films and am so excited to get the third. It has become my very favorite piece of music to write to. Every single song inspires me. I feel this music in my soul .
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

    13. And the very best thing about Pirates of the Caribbean...Captain Jack Sparrow.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
These are wonderful movies. Well written, acted, directed, the cinematography, make up and costumes, the location, every piece of this film is so well done it's hard to imagine it not being a wildly entertaining film, but add to that the brilliance of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow and...well
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Here's a leftover from the movie name game and in case you didn't know which movie this line was from...here's a clue.Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

But why is the Samantha gone?

    Mid-week Author update #6

Actually, I had a really bad week, hit an emotional wall and did nothing! So therefore I have nothing to update.

That being said, Tom, I love you to death! If not for you I wouldn't be back up on my feet at all right now.

Okay, to say that I'm on my feet is over stating and optimistic, but I'm not knocked on my ass for the moment and that is solely 100% thanks to Tom. I don't know how I got so lucky to have a friend like you, but you're the best baby!!! :)

Okay, gushy moment over. So I thought I'd share some of my goals for the next month or so with my writing.

I'm starting a schedule today which includes sitting down to write whether I feel like it or not! If I can't get into a story, then I can walk away, but I need to get back in the habit of siting down to actually write.

I do have several projects I want to get finished.

A Garden in Winter. Yes this is Mike's story from A Garden in the Moonlight. As I've said before, I sort of fell for Mike and to leave him the way I did in Moonlight just makes me sad. I already know this story, it's been playing in my head for months so it's really time to get it down on paper so to speak. ;-)

After that my first and foremost priority is to finish the sequel to Body, Heart and Soul. I love Body, Heart and Soul and I love Kira and Dev. I always had the idea to do Dev's entire family. Since we met Darius in the first story, it's a natural transition to follow the good boy of the Kiersen family and see how much trouble I can get him into. lol

In a way, through all the turmoil in my life that has sidelined this project, I'm worried I've lost my passion for the story I started. I'm on the fence about either starting from scratch or trying to make what I've got going work. I really liked the woman I've got him with and the premise. I think I just need to stop thinking and start writing. lol

I still have two submissions out to Silhouette Desire and Harlequin Spice, so fingers crossed on those.

I have about five short stories I started during that personal write-a-thon I did a while back and a couple of them won't leave me alone, so they're on my list as well.

I'm also wanting to have a free read series available on my new site...yes I did say new site!! Woohoo, I'm finally getting a real web-site! I'm working with someone now and I have high hopes for the final outcome in a few weeks. Of course, the blog will be the same, but it'll just be nice to put my domain to use finally!

I love to write. I was born to tell stories. I need to tell them. That makes the current constant stress in my life doubly painful, because it's taking away my peace and my joy. I know it can't last forever, but in some ways it's been building for seven years and that feels like forever at the moment. So on a personal note, what keeps you inspired during hard times? I have my faith and prayer, but beyond that? I need to keep going and this past week -- granted extenuating circumstances were in play, but still...this week nearly did me in for good.

I need inspiration. I need something to hang onto on the really rough days. Please share with me if you have something that keeps you going. I'd so greatly appreciate it.

That being said, if y'all are in the same boat as me and are looking for some inspiration, I found yesterday's post on Carolan Ivey's blog very inspirational, so check it out. ;-)

Okay now for some pure fun! I know, I'm such a dork, but I could play with this thing all day. lol!
