    Mid-Week Author Update
Well, I'm not even sure anyone will be around to read this, I think the entire world (okay my small entire world lol) is in Texas today. If you're not, if you read this, leave me a comment, I'm feeling incredibly left out. lol

So other then the Romantic Times convention, what's new here?

I got a new review for Body, Heart and Soul. This one from Love Romances and More. I'll share it all with you once it goes live on their site next month, but in the meantime, I'll share my favorite line...

Ms. Lucas lends a true grace to her erotic voice—one that calls to the soul, evoking heartfelt feelings and erotic desires.

That sort of made me giddy. I think that was all I ever wanted to do when I sought publishing, so thank you to Janalee Ruschhaupt for such a wonderful review :)

In other news, I sold a new book to Cobblestone Press. I was hoping to unveil my new cover, but between my being picky and Emma's mouse breaking, it's not ready yet. Maybe next week, but I've had a glimpse and it's a beautiful cover. In the mean time, you can look at me and Finn because its 3 in the morning and I'm too tired to find a better picture. lol

    The book is title
A Healing Passion and was one of my short story attempts. I got first round edits and my editor, Tracy, and I decided it was too short and I'm doing a major re-write on it. lol

I'm also finishing edits on my teasers from Whiskey Creek Press Torrid.

I'll give you all blurbs when their release gets closer.

So on a more personal note, this was the end of the first quarter sales for most of the sites I'm on. So it was my first glimpse at how my books were doing and what my sales were like. I was awe struck when I saw how many copies of my books sold over the past month. Also, New Year's Resolution is back on the best seller list at The Wild Rose Press. #4 to be exact as of today.

Thank you to every person who bought any of my books. It is such a surreal moment when you realize hundreds of your books have been bought. People are reading what came from my heart and soul. I couldn't be happier, thank you all again. :)

    My community is hurting
I'll be leaving shortly for the campus. I'm attending the memorial service and a part of me just feels pulled to the campus today. I don't think the shock has entirely worn off. The Tech campus is Blacksburg. It's 26,000 students are more than half our normal population. It's a strange time, summer when the students leave, it's as if half your community goes on a trip somewhere. This community is so proud of it's university and feels like a part of it. We all will hurt for a very long time from this and your prayers are very much needed.

    School Shooting at Virginia Tech
This school is about ten minutes from my home. It is a beautiful campus and I and my family go there often. They have an arboretum there that I personally love and the campus is old and the stonework is so beautiful.

This is such a beautiful school and a wonderful community and I am truly saddened by this event. My thoughts are with my community as they attempt to heal.

    32 people are dead

    I'm stunned.

    Mid-Week Author Update

Woo hoo I got a book trailer!

You can see it on my site or on my myspace page so go have a look, I'm totally psyched!

I have to thank my fellow author Skylar Sinclair, because she was wonderfully kind and put it together for me.

Also, I'm thinking of changing my tag line. What do y'all think of... Unforgettable Love Stories with an Erotic Edge as oppose to Believe Again in the Magic of Soul Mates.

I like to switch things up, so maybe it's just time for a change, but someone wrote in a review that I wrote breathtaking, unforgettable romances, I sort of liked that.

Well, the big news in the author world right now is the Romantic Times Booklovers Convention.

To which I am not going and yes I do intend to pout the entire week everyone else is there.
I was supposed to go last year. It fell over the date of my 17th wedding anniversary and was in Daytona Beach! I thought great, second honeymoon! Husband thought it wasn't all that important. The man never got excited about anything, I swear NOTHING got him giddy. Not our anniversary, not either time I got pregnant, not travel, not...but I digress.

So anyway, this year was my year. I was going for sure. I had my itinerary all picked out, my flight scheduled, I was ready to go! Then my marriage fell apart and all my convention money went to moving out and somewhere along the line in that whole fiasco, not only did I not get my own place, but I'm not going to the convention! Sheesh. How unlucky can a girl get?

    No marriage
    No own place
    No convention
oh...and no garden! (see previous post for an update)

Well, to all those attending, have a fabulous time! For all you not attending (but wish you could) lets commiserate. But I'm not breaking out the chocolate, because I put on three pounds this week. Add that to my list up there. lol

In other big news...I'll be getting out my newsletter this weekend so it's not to late to sign up! Just fill in your email on the yahoo group button at the top of the page and you're all set. :)

So what else? I've been working on the get organized plan and something is beginning to form. It's all very exciting, so that's all good.

I was told recently that the reason I may struggle with shorter stories is because my characters aren't slutty enough. lol I can't help it, I like my characters to be in love before they fall in bed. I'm a good girl at heart. I just have a wicked soul.

So I'm continuing on my path of learning the craft of the short story and I will be successful at it very soon or die trying! lol

This was a poll I saw today at Beth Wylde's Yahoo Group

    Question

If you purchase an e-book do you prefer it to be a novel length book, a short story, novella size, or the length doesn't matter if the story is good?

What do you think? In view of my recent path of trying to write short stories, I'd love to know.

One last thing, you have absolutely got to read SJ's post on Passionate Prose today. OMG! LOL!

Well, I guess that's it for now, take care everyone and have a good week.

    Kindness Connection part 2

Yesterday I posted on the Liquid Silver blog about kindness and how we are all so connected. It utterly amazes me how much small inconsequential things matter and how you just never know how much of an impact you may make in someone's life simply by being kind in some small way.

Well anyway, fellow author Dee S. Knight found this today and sent me the link. I cried my heart out at this. Please click on the link and watch, it says exactly what I was trying to, only so much better.

Have a happy Tuesday! Lots of love ~ Samantha

PS I love purple roses. Thank you Tom. :)

    Mid-week author update
    Cool Slideshows

It's been a busy week for me, couple of weeks actually. As you probably know, I went on a writing binge a couple weeks back, just trying to get back in the swing of things. I ended up with four completed short stories, and a lot of half stories or first chapters and even more ideas for future stories, so I was really happy with my little binge. :)

I sold a novella to Siren Publishing entitled Torrid Hearts.

Jaded Vegas stripper Sarah Bennet has met her match in world-famous composer Drago Castenoff. In an emotional game of cat and mouse where sex and love are the prize, could anything be sweeter than surrender?

This book will be available in August so look for contests and more info as we get closer. :)

I subbed to both HQ Spice Briefs and Silhouette Desire. I don't have much hope for Spice Briefs, I realized the second I sent it, I had it formatted wrong. sigh. Word of advice, don't send out submissions at 3 in the morning. Oh well.

I got my cover for my Samhain story a while back but never really showed it off. A Midsummer Nights Steam is a wonderful series of hot summer reads. All stories and covers are up now on the coming soon page at Samhain, check them out. I love all the covers and the stories are HOT!
My story is in the hot summer nights sub category and here's the cover for those books.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

    One Night on a Balcony
One hot summer night and a scorching balcony interlude light the fuse of hidden attraction between neighbors Jill Reed and Cole Adams. Can they contain the feelings they’ve ignited or will their raging passions blow sky high?

Watch for this book July 27th exclusively at Samhain Publishing!

    So what's next?

I have a submission in at Cobblestone that I'm waiting to hear from. My next release is Tower of Secrets from Siren, available in June, and I have a ton of more submissions planned.

I figure on a personal level, my year is kind of in a holding pattern so I'm going to use as much time as possible getting as many things written as possible, so when life takes on some sense of normalcy again, I'm hoping to be ahead of the game. lol

My other big goal for the month of April is of course as previously stated, to get and stay organized.

I need a plan that works. I really do have a lot of things I want to accomplish this year. Maybe I'm being a bit obsessive about it, but I guess I feel a little bit like being behind the wagon, I have to run to catch up. I also need to remember though, to breathe and laugh and love.

So that's it for author business, don't forget to check in at Passionate Prose, the group blog for some Samhain erotic romance authors. It's been a lot of fun over there in our first week, so come join us!

Now on one final note, if you want to see something absolutely adorable, check out my myspace page, right above my friends list. Romance truly is universal. lol
